My Island home!
Australia is an absolutely gorgeous country to live in and I’m sure it is incredible to visit! I love #beingatourist in my own country even! Because I am lucky enough to live and explore this wonderful place on a weekly basis, I have divided this page up into each of the States and Territories that make up Australia!
Queensland (QLD)
Queensland is the state which I call home, hence why it is first on the list instead of its snobby competitors Sydney and Melbourne. Queensland (and the rest of Aus) has spectacular scenery and wildlife-not to mention the Sunshine Coas and Gold Coast in Brisbane, plus I think somewhere closeish (about 18hrs from Brisbane) we have some dinosaur fossils!
New South Wales (NSW)
Being my rival state in our annual football game, you would think I would have more negative things to say about New South Wales. However, in the north you can find beautiful beaches (some better than ours here is Queensland, believe it or not!), the iconic attractions of Sydney, the Blue Mountains and further south even snow covered mountains to ski on!
Australian Capital Territory (ACT)
What’s not very well known about the ACT is that the only reason it exists is because the people of Sydney and Melbourne were fighting over who was going to be the capital. So they put it directly between Melbourne and Sydney and called it a day. Really, you’ll only be excited to visit here if you love town planning, politics or roundabouts (before you laugh, I have a friend who ACTUALLY wants to move here for the roundabouts).
Victoria (VIC)
If you’re planning a trip to Aus, then I would imagine you are most definitely stopping in at the wonderful Melbourne (because you’ve already been to Sydney, right?). Click here to see my must do’s and must don’ts of all that Melbs has to offer!
Tasmania (TAS)
Tasmania is sometimes referred to as the ‘Vagina of Australia’. And that’s generally what most people’s attitude to it is-BUT before you write off the little dangly bit at the bottom PLEASE check out some of the beautiful photos of this gorgeous state-not to mention I saw 5 platypus playing just randomly one day, pretty special, huh?
Unfortunately, as of yet I have not made it to: Western Australia, The Northern Territory, South Australia or Norfolk Island as an adult and am still working on visiting these locations!
